24 Feb 2015

Here is a picture of me and Elder Lyon.  Believe it or not, we are the same height.  He also plays basketball.  He is my favorite companion since Elder Lefler.  I'm doing fine and I love you.

This week we had a lot of fun! We went to temple square with Daniel. We went on a tour and it was great! It didn't hurt that we had two cute sisters giving us the tour. I think it was really good for Daniel and it was his first time there. It was really nice to get out of our mission. I was a little paranoid while I was there. The whole time I was expecting to see someone that I know. We also found out that Daniel smokes. So we told him that in order for him to get baptized he has to quit. He hasn't smoked since. He is a great guy. He wants to do whatever it takes to choose the right. Transfers are next Wednesday. I think I am going to Murray. The last three elders in my area have all been transferred to Murray. I am glad that everything is well with little Butch. I can't wait to see him in May. Well that's all for this week.

Dear family and Friends,

This has been a weird week. On Wednesday I had a district meeting so we all got together for lunch. It took 45 minutes for us to get our food so we speed ate and dashed to the church to have our meeting. Elder Lyon and I were the first to get there.  We saw a white car and a man standing in front of the building. It was President Moffat. Out of all the district meetings that day he picked ours.

On Sunday we took our investigator Daniel to the latest sacrament meeting we could find because he works until 3pm on Sundays. We took him to a young single adult ward. Wow! That was a bit distracting. It wasn't hard to pay attention to the first speaker because she was really cute. Anyways I hope they never make me cover a YSA ward. On Friday we are taking Daniel on a temple square tour, so that should be fun.

Last night the strangest thing that has ever happened on my mission took place. We got a call at like 9:40 from an unknown number. I answered and some girl was on the other end and she sounded drunk. After a long awkward pause she said "I'll let you go now." So I said goodbye and hung up. One minute later we get a text from the same number that says, "I just read the Book of Mormon." So Elder Lyon texted back and asked, "How did you like it?" She said, "It changed my life." So then we called her back and found out that she is 20, was an athlete at Iowa State and she had just had a total knee replacement. She was on intense pain meds and that's why she sounded drunk. She told us that she met a Mormon at college and how she thought we were like Amish people, but then found out that we are normal. We then asked her if she would like to meet with us and take the lessons. She said yes, and then asked us one last question, "Is suicide a sin?" Elder Lyon quickly bore his testimony and told her how much Jesus and Heavenly Father love her and they know what she is going through. After she hung up we sent her a text that told her that we would be praying for her. She sent us a text back that told us that she appreciated us. Then we told her we would call her in the morning. She said "thanks." I was freaking out and praying really hard non stop. We got a call from her in the middle of the night but we didn't answer it.  She called us again this morning and told us she went back into the hospital because her pain got worse. We encouraged her again and told her that God loves her and hears her prayers. We still have no idea who she is and where she lives. It was so crazy. I hope we can meet with her soon. Well that's my week.

Love

10 Feb 2015 Handwritten

Here is a picture of me and Elder Christensen.  I will send you my SD card at the end of this transfer.  Elder Lyon and I have a mutual friend.  He went to BYU and he knows Mariah Kolts from Marshfield.  What a small world.  Love you!  Elder Plesehk

This week has been crazy! we got to 68 degrees this week. Elder Lyon and have been going to the salt lake community collage to work out in there gym a couple of times a week. Our only on-date investigator dropped us because we were too "pushy". I have never been less pushy to an investigator. However, we had a miracle happen on Saturday. We were walking out of a church building and we got a text from our 1st ward mission leader. He said that a former investigator named Daniel Millet called him and that he might want to take the lessons again. So we called him and he told us that he had been meeting with the missionaries about a year ago and that after he stopped meeting with them he kept reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it. He told us he knew it was true and he wants to join the church. So we met with him yesterday and we put him on date for March 7th. He is the most golden investigator I have ever met. We have also found a bunch of solid potential investigators this week. Some lady from Liberia walked into church on Sunday, so we are going to try and visit her this week. Our area is starting to pick up. That's all for this week.

I got this cool shirt last week.

3 Feb 2015

Dear Family and Friends,

This week was fun. We got a guy named Preston to accept a baptismal date! His wife is a returning member. He is scheduled for the 28th. The area is picking up a little bit. Maybe that's because we have twice the area. We met this whack job yesterday. He thinks the government is out to get everyone. He thinks the Illuminati killed Paul Walker. Everyone yesterday acted like they had a stick up there butt. We had alot of fun with it though. On Saturday, Elder Lyon and I talked to 38 people on the street; gave out 2 copies of the book of Mormon, and invited 1 person to be baptized. We also switched name tags for a day and tracted with chastity pamphlets. Too bad no one opened their doors. Elder Lyon came out 6 weeks before I did. We had alot of fun this week. Love you all.
